In this episode, I talk with Brad Henry, Chief Executive Officer of Providence Willamette Falls Hospital. He is known for the quote he always uses that says “lead with your heart”. In the first part of the episode, he shares what it means to him.

We discuss the important topic of attracting and retaining people in healthcare amidst the pandemic crisis. Brad believes that you have to figure out the culture you want to build to be a successful organization, especially during crisis situations.

Another topic we talk about is dealing with difficult conversations where Brad shares the vital role of managing relationships. He mentions maintaining a one-on-one relationship with the people around the table to understand their perspectives and where they are coming from.

Finally, he shares the values that lead him throughout his career, including the Providence values of compassion, dignity, justice, excellence, and integrity.
